Under the patronage of the Deanship of the Open Educational College, represented by the Dean, Assistant Professor Dr. Ihsan Hadi Ahmed, and under the supervision and follow-up of the Director of Al-Rusafa Study Center, Professor Dr. Qusay Qasim Al-Rikabi, a solemn memorial gathering was held this Saturday morning, April 25, 2026, at Al-Sayyab Study Hall. The event marked the twenty-eighth anniversary of the martyrdom of the religious authority Muhammad Muhammad Sadiq Al-Sadr and his noble sons, may Allah sanctify their pure souls.
The gathering was attended by the Dean and the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Firas Tahir Hussain, alongside several members of parliament from the National Shiite Movement, led by Mr. Hakim Al-Zamili, the former First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament. A large assembly of the college’s faculty and students also participated in an atmosphere characterized by reverence and deep remembrance of the martyrs' lives and sacrifices.
The memorial included commemorative segments highlighting the national and religious stances of Sayyid Al-Sadr and his prominent role in consolidating human and reformist values. It also recalled the intellectual and jihadi legacy he left behind, which remains present in the conscience of Iraqi society.
Attendees emphasized the importance of drawing lessons from this fragrant biography and enhancing the concepts of community awareness and commitment to the authentic values embodied by the martyr, contributing to the building of a conscious and responsible generation.
