Under the patronage of the President of the Iraqi Academy of Sciences (Majma’ al-Khalidin), Prof. Dr. Mohammed Hussein Al-Yassin, and the Dean of the Open Educational College, Dr. Ihsan Hadi Ahmed, Al-Rusafa Study Center held its annual celebration of World Arabic Language Day. The event took place at the Grand Hall of the Academy, attended by many members of the Iraqi Academy, college faculty, and students.
The ceremony commenced with a speech by the President of the Iraqi Academy, welcoming the joint cooperation between the Academy and the Open Educational College, noting that this celebration marks the beginning of future collaborative activities. The Dean of the College also delivered a speech, expressing his gratitude to the Academy and its organizers for their cooperation in hosting this event.
The festivities included diverse activities celebrating the Arabic language, its glories, and the perspectives of orientalists. Poetry recitations embodied the deep-rooted love for Arabic and highlighted its significance as one of the six official languages adopted by the United Nations.
In recognition of their efforts, the President of the Iraqi Academy presented the "Shield of Creativity" to the Dean and certificates of appreciation to the department’s faculty. In turn, the Dean presented the "Shield of Giving" to the President of the Academy on behalf of the College Deanship.
The President of the Iraqi Academy praised the celebration, describing it as a "true wedding for the Arabic language." Notably, this celebration is the first of its kind in the Academy's history to be organized by an Iraqi academic institution in cooperation with the Iraqi Academy of Sciences.
