Under the patronage and direct supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ihsan Hadi Ahmed, Dean of the Open Education College, the college held a special ceremony to commemorate Iraqi Wounded Veterans Day, honoring the sacrifices of the heroes who gave their lives in defense of the homeland.
The event took place at the Al-Rusafa Study Center in the Al-Sayyab Hall. The Dean was received by the Center's Director, Assistant Professor Dr. Jalal Jassim.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defense's media office, including wounded Brigadier General Alaa Mahdi Hassan Al-Eidani, wounded Lieutenant Colonel Bashar Abdul-Jabbar Abdullah from the Ministry of Defense, and wounded fighter Hamed Al-Sarai from the Popular Mobilization Forces. Also present were the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Israa Talib Tawfiq, and the Assistant Dean for Center Affairs, Dr. Amer Lotfi Abdul-Karim.
The heads of the college's academic departments and the teaching staff at the Al-Rusafa Center also attended the ceremony, offering their support and appreciation to the honorees and acknowledging their sacrifices for Iraq.
In conclusion, the college honored the wounded heroes with the “Wounded Iraqi” shield, in recognition of their heroic role on the battlefields of honor and sacrifice.
In a gesture expressing appreciation for cultural achievements, the wounded Dean, Alaa Mahdi Hassan Al-Eidani, honored a number of poets who have made significant literary contributions in support of national causes. These poets are:

• Dr. Alawi Kitan Al-Aqabi / Wasit Study Center
• Assistant Lecturer Ammar Hussein Sabri / Babylon Study Center
• Dr. Uday Abdul Shamkhi Eid / Head of the Follow-up Committee at the Deanship
These honors represented a message of loyalty from the wounded to those who championed the word with their actions and culture with their sacrifices.
